The Synoptic Gospels
The Synoptic Gospels are the three gospels written by Matthew, Mark and Luke because unlike the gospel of John, they are similar in presentation of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in His human aspect. The gospel of John presents the Christ as the divine Son of God -- in other words His 'God in the flesh' aspect. Jesus was not 'human only' as many erroneously believe, neither was He 50% man and 50% God. He was 100% God but came to earth in the flesh to deliver His plan of Salvation personally to mankind His creation. Synoptic means "of or constituting a synopsis; presenting a general view or summary; giving an account from the same point of view" (New World Dictionary). For instance in the book "Horizontal Chronology of the Four Gospels" by Dr. Diane M. Hoffmann, there is an exclusive and unique "Synoptical Pattern(c)" of the four Gospels at the end of the book which shows the pattern developed by the number of main events of the chronology reported by each of the writers. This shows which of the four writers has the most coverage of the main events as divided in this chronology of the four gospels. For related topics: Harmony of the Gospels Parallels of the Gospels
