Dr. Diane on a word about a "Surprise phone call"...
from May 8, 2007
Dear Friends: I just had to share this with you, because I was surprised to receive an unusual phone call today. It came while I was working at a client's location. My cell phone rang at a hectic time of the day and I answered it with just a "hello". The voice at the other end asked, "Is this the Link School?" After my affirmation, the individual identified herself as calling from the Miracle Channel and referred to a prayer request I had sent in along with a donation. It took a few moments for me to get into the Christian conversation since I work in a secular business environment and my mind was far from the School at that time. However, this woman soon displayed a deep sense of Christian maturity and wisdom with the questions relative to knowing more about the School and specific need for prayer. After getting a feel of what the School was about, she began to pray. Again the wisdom in her prayer and the seriousness of God's business was truly amazing. But most of all what I really wanted to share here is that this is probably the first time I've had someone call to pray for the School. I say "probably" because I'm trying hard to remember such an occasion -- I wouldn't want to offend any one who might have done that at some time which I may have forgotten. But I do not recall any such instance in all my years in ministry. OK, I sent a donation and I wrote on the prayer request card the financial need of the ministry. But, I've done that before at various ministries that I support and no one called. And even without that no-one ever called me to pray for the School. The School was passed on to me in 1995 by a fellow minister who had founded it many years prior. He has since passed on to be with the Lord. I have always known/felt that God gave me that ministry. It has been a painful struggle because no-one seems to care about it. Friends, relatives, they all seem to say, well it's just Diane, who is Diane? Isn't she just one of us, one like us. Do you know what I'm talking about? It's what Jesus said about "a prophet not being welcomed in his own country". People say, "Oh, God will provide the financing." Yet they boast of their trips and purchases and comings and goings and pay no attention to the heart cry of God's servants. You see, it is God's ministry, not mine. And no matter how difficult things get, I cannot give it up. Because God gave me the responsibility of it. I prepared for it long before I knew it would come to me. God prepared me for it. It seems that a lot of Christians today are so far removed from God's call -- many are called but few are chosen. We are all called, but we don't want to take God's work seriously... and we don't take God's servants seriously either. So, it was nice, for a change, to receive a call from a stranger who cared enough to respond to the request for prayer and who prayed a substantial, serious, meaningful, relative, sincere prayer to God that He would provide the people He has prepared to catch the vision of a School in this area and to come alongside as helpers and supporters and partners... Your prayers would be appreciated also -- not for me, but for God's ministry, for God's Kingdom that the work of God will be done on earth until His glorious return.
