For the latest on current Middle East issues: Views... The Only True Foundation I was listening to a radio talk show program this morning from the US, where a lot of the discussions about terrorism and how the Obama government is responding to it -- especially in the wake of the failed attempt of last Christmas day. Callers who phone in express their views in an affirmative or contradictory manner to the topic at hand. Many of these callers open up quite an interesting discussion. I have noticed that those who have a strong position that everything is just going fine in the world today, are very much sounding like those who believe in evolution. Blinded by theories and philosophies they believe "by faith" in something that is not real. With one difference though... The evolutionist believes in something that has no facts. For example, they look at the human being having been "evolved" from some microbial soup over a period of eons of years! No fact. Just belief. And some of the other so called "scientific" "facts" are merely theoretical. For instance, mutation only goes from good or bad to worse. Not the other way aroudn. Speaking about this, it says in the book "How Did It All Begin" by Harold Hill, Logos Publishers, "All (the evolutionist) needs is patience and time. Given enough millions of years, anything can happen. The simple becomes the complex while he waits. Things get better by accident. But do they really? "Try an experiment - with yourself as chief guinea pig. "Let yourself go for one day. You feel like a slob. Let yourself go for two days. You look like a slob. Let yourself go for three days. You smell like a slob. Let yourself go for four days, you are a slob. "In real life, things left to themselves run down. Fast. The garden clogs up with weeds, dust gathers on the furniture, the leftovers mold in the refrigerator. Things never get better by accident." But the radio callers who believe that everything is just fine in the world today differs from the evolutionist in that he believes "in spite" of the facts. All we need to do is look around us. Crime, violence, terrorism, it's all increasing in frequency and degree of ferocity and brutality. And the government is powerless to stop it. Evil is coming in like a flood indeed. And there are those who say "It's always been that way. It's just that news gets around faster now because the world has become smaller now". Yah, right. Speaking of the end days, Jesus says in Matthew 24, verse 21, "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And in verse 37, our Lord continues, "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Do you know how it was in the days of Noah? Please read it in the book of Genesis, chapter 6. But the Christian lives by true faith. A faith based on the factual Word of God, which is the only thing that is sure in this passing world. His Word is true yesterday, today and forever. Wow, how's that for a sure foundation? It's the only true foundation. Inspiration, Motivation, Information... A new year has begun. How bright it seems as so many we have seen before. The year just passed, we remember with its troubles, cares, sins, joys, gone with no more recall. A new year, like a blank page in a book stares us in the face, with its new hopes, joys, plans and undoubtedly sorrows and struggles. What will be written on yours? As I was writing the conclusion of the "Views" (above) for this month, I was thinking about how true and factual the Bible is. I wanted to continue an apologetic on my conclusion. So, you can imagive how thrilled I was when I got to this section -- what a perfect corordination. Surely orchestrated by the Holy Spirit! I have a lot of friends who would argue that the Bible is not a factual book. But that is just fairy-tale thinking on their part. Just look at it from the "historical" point of view. The Bible is composed of 66 books (39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New). These books (or letters, as some of them are) were written by over thirty-five authors, during a period of about sixteen hundred years, from 1500 B.C. to about 100 A.D. The whole in perfect harmony. Those who argue against the Bible simply don't have the facts. If they would spend some time reading books about history from both man's point of view and God's they would quickly conclude the factual evidence of God's Word. First of all how could God's Word be untrue! So, that alone gives them away. You cannot say that God's Word is not true unless you believe there is no God. And that is exactly where their argument begins. When I wrote my ph.d. thesis, I read secular history books alongside the Bible as I went through it book by book. Not only does the Bible stand up to these books but it even goes far beyond. The Word of God has history past as well as history yet to come. And each year, the Bible proves itself more and more through its prophecies unveiling themselves in these end times. The men who collectively wrote the Bible into human language were factual. Oh the skeptics will twist and ring the alphabets to try and discredit them all, but the fact still remains that there were really people called Matthew, Marc, Luke and John, and Peter and Paul and Mary, and Abraham and Isaac, and Ruth and Isaiah and Jeremiah and Habbakuk... They are no less true than the ancient writers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, Islam, Confucianism, and other Greek Philosophies, who go as far back as the writers of the Bible. But with one difference. The writers of the Bible history were writing about God's "religion"; whereas the other mentioned writers were writing about different founders of man-made religions. So their argument that the Bible "was written by men" is not an argument at all, because of course, it was written by men, but these men were writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Peter 1:21). "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual". (1 Corinthians 2:13). Case closed. The only way one can deny the factual history of the Bible is by denying God Himself. Book and Web Site Review ... They claim to be the biggest and most popular creationist magazine on earth! And I tend to agree. Go there for everything there is to know about Creation vs Evolution.
