The Gospel of Christ
The Gospel of Christ is indeed the Gospel of He who came to this world to save it from sin. Now, to many this does not make any sense, "to save the world from sin". How come then, they say, there is so much sin in the world if Christ came to save it from sin? Good question. And I'm glad that people search on the 'gospel of Christ' every month, as well as the 'christian gospel', last month. Because it is truly His Gospel, howbeit, it was officially reported in the Word of God -- the Bible -- by four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (for more on these, click here). The four evangelists recorded the christian Gospels which have become to be known as the "four" gospels. However they are really ONE gospel and that is Christ's gospel. When you put the four gospels into one chronological harmony, it is ONE gospel. And it is a gospel about the One who delivered it in person -- Jesus Christ (Jesus = Savior, Christ = Anointed). One of the most exciting thing about putting the four gospels together in chronological harmony is that the very fist 'event' that comes up is the declaration of the pre-human existence of Christ. Where does He come from? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men. and the list shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not." (John 1:1-5) The awesome thing about this declaration is that when you read the four gospels as it is placed in the Bible, you don't get to see this fantastic truth. You read it only in the fourth gospel -- although it is at the front end of John's gospel. But when you put all four gospels together, IT IS AT THE VERY FRONT END OF ALL FOUR ! That's how the Gospels begin! It is truly the Gospel of Christ -- the One and only who came from glory to earth to bring glad tidings and goodwill to men. Now you might say, where's the glad tidings and goodwill of men if He brought it to them. It is up to men (mankind, humans) to take it. He has given it to us. But mankind has preferred to rebel against God. "He was in the world and the world was made by Him and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not." (John 10, 11). Yes, it is UP TO US to receive the blessings of redemption. "But as many as received him Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even (that is) to them that believe on His name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 12-14). WOW ! AWESOME ! We're talking about God, don't you get it! It's plenty to get excited about. God. God in the flesh! Not some God out there that is not personally known... not some God out there who is to be feared.. but a God who is to be REVERED, WORSHIPPED and OBEYED. Yes 'obeyed'. That's where the sin comes in. We are to obey His commandment and be conformed into His image once we've been born spiritually. And yes He is to be feared as the One who can call up life and death. We should tremble before this awesome God, Creator of the Universe and everything that's in it -- including man. That's the trouble. We don't consider Him to be such an awesome God. We forget who He is and we do not obey His Word. So we sin. Willfully mind you. We sin willfully. What we need to do is get to know this Christ. And the best way to get to know Him is to read His gospel, the gospel of Christ. We need to follow Him day by day as He goes across the land of Israel during His three-year ministry, within the pages of the four gospels. And to do this thoroughly, we need to walk chronologically with Him and His disciples, watching Him pray, teach, preach and heal. A direct comparison of this gospel to the other three can be seen clearly in the book Horizontal Chronology of the Gospels
